Therapy is a collaborative process between you and a licensed mental health professional, designed to address emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. At BTS, we provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore your personal experiences and work toward enhancing your well-being. Whether you’re looking to talk things through or learn new strategies, therapy can lead to valuable insights and skills for personal growth.
Why People Seek Therapy
Many individuals turn to therapy for support in managing a variety of concerns, including:
Is Therapy Right for You?
Therapy can be beneficial for almost anyone willing to engage in the process. Our approach is personalized, aiming to meet each individual’s unique needs and goals. Research supports that therapy can be highly effective for those ready to invest in their personal development. We believe everyone has the potential to make meaningful progress with the right support and commitment.
Our intake process is designed to make getting started with us simple and efficient. Here’s what you can expect:
1. Initial Screening
We begin with a brief screening to gather basic information about you and the type of support you’re seeking. This step helps us match you with a therapist who fits your needs and ensures we provide the appropriate level of care. During this time, we’ll also review scheduling options, rates, and insurance coverage.
2. Completing Intake Forms Online
After we match you with a therapist, you’ll receive instructions to complete the intake forms through our secure client portal. This portal allows you to fill out consent forms and share background information from the comfort of home. By providing these details beforehand, your therapist can gain valuable insights, creating a smooth first session where you’ll discuss goals and get to know each other.
3. Scheduling Your First Session
Once you submit the forms, our team will review them, and we’ll contact you to schedule your first session. We’ll provide you with all necessary instructions and a link to our secure telehealth platform, which you’ll use for virtual sessions.
4. Your Initial Session
In your first session, your therapist will review your intake information, ask additional questions, and help you clarify your goals. This is your time to ask questions and set expectations for therapy. Additionally, our Clinical Director, Nicole Monroe, is available for support as needed throughout your journey at Breakthrough Therapy Solutions.
If you’re new to therapy, you’re not alone—many of our clients are taking this step for the first time. We’re here to guide you and answer any questions along the way. Since everyone’s journey is unique, there’s no single answer to how therapy works for each individual.
Frequency of Sessions
Most clients begin by meeting with their therapist weekly or biweekly. This initial frequency helps your therapist get to know you and develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs. As you make progress and reach your goals, session frequency can be adjusted to suit your evolving needs. We also strive to accommodate clients seeking additional support during more challenging times.
How Long Does Therapy Take to Show Results?
The timeframe for seeing results varies from person to person. Some clients notice improvements after just a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer-term approach. Each individual responds differently, and our flexible, personalized approach allows us to adjust treatment strategies based on your unique response to therapy. We believe this individualized method is the most effective way to help clients achieve lasting, positive outcomes.
Our team at BTS includes highly qualified, state-licensed clinicians, including Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), and Licensed Associate Counselors (LAC). The minimum education is master's level. Before beginning therapy, we’ll provide you with detailed licensing and credential information about your assigned clinician.
*LACs work under the direct supervision of Nicole Monroe, an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) in New Jersey. Nicole provides clinical supervision to provisionally licensed therapists as they work toward independent licensure. This supervision is closely monitored by regulatory boards, ensuring high standards in training and client care.
Breakthrough Therapy Solutions provides counseling services for individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. We also provide family and relationship counseling.
We’re in-network with most commercial plans from Horizon BCBS, Aetna, Anthem, Meritain, Cigna and NOW...United/Optum. Additionally, we accept some Employee Assistance Program (EAP) plans and are continually expanding our network of accepted payers. To check if we accept your specific plan, please complete our new client request form. We’ll verify your insurance and inform you of your coverage options.
In-Network Insurance Plans
If your insurance plan is in-network, we handle the claims process directly with your insurer, making it easy for you. You simply pay any out-of-pocket costs, like copays or deductibles, and we submit the claim for you.
Out-of-Network Insurance Plans
If we’re not in-network with your plan, billing options vary on a case-by-case basis. In some cases, we can submit claims on your behalf. Alternatively, we can provide you with an invoice to seek reimbursement directly after you pay upfront.
Yes, for clients who do not have insurance that covers therapy, we offer a variety of affordable options. During the screening process, you will be provided with options. Most people have found them to be very affordable, flexible and reasonable.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy, and at BTS, we are committed to protecting your privacy. We strictly adhere to professional and legal standards, ensuring that everything you share in therapy remains confidential.
While there are rare legal exceptions—such as imminent risk of harm to yourself or others—your therapist will explain these limits from the outset and revisit them as needed. Our priority is to create a secure, judgment-free environment where you can openly share your thoughts and feelings with complete peace of mind.
At Breakthrough Therapy Solutions, we believe in compassionate and personalized mental health care tailored to your unique needs, strengths and goals. Our hope is to create a therapeutic environment where you feel understood and supported.
